I need to learn how to grab a brick from the bottom of a pool by tomorrow

Movies That I Bought Recently That I Love

Beetlejuice – I first saw Beetlejuice when I was around seven or eight, I really cannot remember my exact age. I do remember, though, that I saw Beetlejuice for the very first time, late at night, with my sister that is one year younger than me. We built a fort with the couch cushions because, at the time, Beetlejuice was to us what the scariest movies of today are to us. The forts made us feel protected. We saw Beetlejuice late at night, since that was when it aired. I vaguely remember falling asleep on the couch and hugging my blanket close to my chest throughout most of the movie. I even said, “Beetlejuice!” three times out loud at some point to see if it would work. It didn't.

V for Vendetta (It came with Watchmen, but Watchmen I only like) – It was raining and trees were falling outside when I first saw V for Vendetta for the first time. I probably placed this movie on hold at the library and picked it up sometime during the summer of 2010. I understood the story, but the volume on my desktop computer was so low that I didn't understand some of the dialogue. It wasn't until I read the graphic novel a year later that I finally understood clearly what had occurred. I usually love movies like this; movies that make me think. V for Vendetta kept me so engrossed that I even forgot about the rain and chaos that was outside.

Hocus Pocus - I was fairly young when I saw Hocus Pocus for the very first time. I don’t think I saw it from beginning or until the ending, only in small segments or from the middle to the ending. I cannot remember. What I do remember is the witches, the Sanderson sisters, and I don’t think I had seen other movies with witches before Hocus Pocus aside from Halloween Town. Anyway, I loved the thought of being able to make potions and coming back to life after a virgin lights a candle.

[ I couldn't find the movie.
I don't know where it went.
 Maybe I thought I bought it, but I didn't.
Or maybe I did.]

Good Will Hunting – If there ever was a time when a movie kept me seated and focused, it had to be Good Will Hunting. I recently saw this movie and it caught me off guard. I mean, who wouldn't want to know someone like Will Hunting. I would. To me, this was one of the best well written movies ever and to think that Matt Damon and Ben Affleck wrote it is impressive. All the evidence, knowledge, facts, and dialogue allows for viewer to think and question the movie. This is why I am glad that it was nominated for 9 Academy Awards and was the winner of a Golden Globe. To see that others recognized it in 1995 or 1996 made me happy. I hope to one day write something as remarkable as Good Will Hunting.

Really, really listening

I didn't realize what I was listening to until I finally listened to what I was listening to and it made me a bit sad. Not the kind of sad that makes you feel like crying, but the kind of sad that makes you wonder and ask, "How many times have I listened, but not listened at all?" I probably missed something that was within arms reach, but I did not care enough to reach out and listen to what I failed to listen.

dark chocolate Raisinets

Everything is the color, shape, size, and feeling that it is. Nothing is the nonexistent something that it might be. What if grass was purple instead of green or the sun shown rays as dark as the night? But it would still be day and everyone could see through those dark rays. There would still be night and day and nothing would be peculiar because that is what we will know. If the meaning of cat was mouse and mouse was dog and dog was cat, what would we wonder? Not much, those would be the words of what we know.
If words looked like the colors they represent, would we ever wonder?
Yellow would be spelled like this: =======. Like a sun ray. Blue would be spelled like this: {{{{{{{. Like the top of an ocean with waves. Red would be spelled like this: []. Simple, like the shape of a fire hydrant. And green would be spelled like this: (#). Like a leaf in the fall.

Ehhh.... Psychology

Stuck In a Paper
All I know is black and white. I was drawn by a painter for a stranger on the streets of downtown, a sudden scribble for a random passerby. The corners of my mouth are permanently placed like the creases in a book that someone forgot to read. I cannot frown for I am forever smiling and never expressing other emotions I feel. My arms and legs are straws that bend accordingly, but in misleading manners. The stranger folded my world, my view of the universe, and only remembered their own.
Is blue soft, but sticky like cotton candy?
Is yellow extremely hot like the summer or exceedingly sour like a lemon?
All I know is white and black. I run from corner to corner, bumping into the outside world. I was not drawn for a museum or art display. If I was redrawn on another piece of paper or on a beautiful canvas, would I look for my original place? If I flew on a cloud and jumped on an advertisement I would see drivers and passengers heading to their own piece of paper. That place which they call home. I am where I have always been, in a crease in the bench that the stranger ate lunch on and forgot the scribble from the painter, this piece of paper.
Does green bend like grass or brown flow like sand through the fingers of a hand?
Does orange feel round like the fruit of the same name?
All I know is black and white and white and black. If one cannot miss what they do not know, then why do I yearn to be in the world outside of this piece of paper? It hurts to be stuck in a paper.

February

I thought about yesterday.
And remembered tomorrow.
I forgot one hour ago.
It is today, another day?

the fault in our stars

I had no idea what to expect when I decided to read The Fault in Our Stars. I first heard about John Green from my sister who owned Paper Towns and mentioned to me that someone she talked to said that Looking for Alaska was an awesome book, which is John Green’s first book. It took me a while to begin reading Looking for Alaska because I was reading another book at the time. After reading Looking for Alaska I read An Abundance of Katherine’s, but I wasn’t ecstatic when I found out that John Green was publishing another book. It was all remembering. I needed a book to read and I remembered about The Fault in Our Stars.

The Fault in Our Stars was surprising as I read and read. For any book I read, I tend to look up what the book is about. I didn’t do that for Our Fault in Our Stars. When I checked it out from the library I read the summary on the book jacket. I had no idea what to expect, absolutely no idea. This is why I was always surprised as I read page after page and when I thought I knew what was going to happen next, what I thought would happen never ended up happening. This was what kind of kept me reading, the fact that I didn’t know the story. I would recommend this book to anyone who seeks surprises.

Also, when I returned The Fault in Our Stars back to the library I placed a poem inside entitled, I May, I Might, I Must by Marianne Moore. I hope the person who finds it reads it and if they don’t I will never know. I tried.

If I were Bionic Woman, what would I wear?

TV Show character that I wish was my friend

Bill Haverchuck, Freaks and Geeks

When one of my sisters told me that we should watch Freaks and Geeks, I didn't think much of it. As the opening sequence began to play of the first episode, I knew that Freaks and Geeks was going to be a great show, which it was. After some time, though, I realized that I would like to have a friend like Bill Haverchuck played by Martin Starr, who is one of the geeks. I guess, what made me come to the conclusion that I would want to be friends with Bill Haverchuck was the fact that he:
  • has a smart sense of humor that when understood is actually really funny.
  • doesn't really care what others think or say.
  • takes things as they occur.
  • has awesome glasses.
  • does weird facial expressions.
  • has a humble attitude.
  • eats alone while watching tv.

we didn't get subway

I didn't know there could be so many great books at a thrift store. My cousin, my sister, and I went to a thrift store with the goal of finding and buying a towel and blanket for Bear, my cousin's energetic dog.
After finding the towel and blanket, we paid, and were about to leave when we saw a sign that read, "Christmas decorations on the 3rd floor." We thought we should check it out, so we went to the 3rd floor. We browsed through kitchen utensils, toys, and random other things. We were about to leave when we saw an empty corner full of BOOKS. We thought, hey! why not? it doesn't hurt to look through books. We walked to that corner and after finding Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows for $2.00, we realized we could find other great books.
We looked at about 80% of the books on every shelf. These are the books that my sister and I bought.

We had a tough time carrying the books home, but we saved a lot of money.
