If I were Bionic Woman, what would I wear?

TV Show character that I wish was my friend

Bill Haverchuck, Freaks and Geeks

When one of my sisters told me that we should watch Freaks and Geeks, I didn't think much of it. As the opening sequence began to play of the first episode, I knew that Freaks and Geeks was going to be a great show, which it was. After some time, though, I realized that I would like to have a friend like Bill Haverchuck played by Martin Starr, who is one of the geeks. I guess, what made me come to the conclusion that I would want to be friends with Bill Haverchuck was the fact that he:
  • has a smart sense of humor that when understood is actually really funny.
  • doesn't really care what others think or say.
  • takes things as they occur.
  • has awesome glasses.
  • does weird facial expressions.
  • has a humble attitude.
  • eats alone while watching tv.

we didn't get subway

I didn't know there could be so many great books at a thrift store. My cousin, my sister, and I went to a thrift store with the goal of finding and buying a towel and blanket for Bear, my cousin's energetic dog.
After finding the towel and blanket, we paid, and were about to leave when we saw a sign that read, "Christmas decorations on the 3rd floor." We thought we should check it out, so we went to the 3rd floor. We browsed through kitchen utensils, toys, and random other things. We were about to leave when we saw an empty corner full of BOOKS. We thought, hey! why not? it doesn't hurt to look through books. We walked to that corner and after finding Harry Potter and the Deathly Hollows for $2.00, we realized we could find other great books.
We looked at about 80% of the books on every shelf. These are the books that my sister and I bought.

We had a tough time carrying the books home, but we saved a lot of money.

I get confused, is it film of movie? Which do I say?

Every once in a while I come across a song that I feel would go great in a movie. This is the reason why I have created a playlist of thirteen songs that I feel would fit well in a movie, somehow. These aren't the only songs I feel I would put in a movie, there are more. These are just the songs that I happened to put in this playlist. I haven't really thought about what scenes these songs would appear in, but I know that if I heard any of these songs in a perfect scene in a movie I would be more than excited. I would probably jump out of my seat if I am in a theater or run around my house if I am at home.
Here's the playlist.

Humankind cannot gain anything without first giving something in return. To obtain, something of equal value must be lost. That is alchemy's law of equivalent exchange. In those days, we really believed that to be the world's one and only truth. - Alphonse Elric

Fullmetal Alchemist is interesting. It tells the story of a boy named, Edward Elric, and his brother, Alphonse Elric, who are alchemists and are in search of the philosophers stone. They tried to bring their mother back and, as a result of this, Alphonse lost his body and Edward lost his arm to save the soul of Alphonse.
I started to watch Fullmetal Alchemist several days ago and on the fourth episode I asked myself, why didn't I see Fullmetal Alchemist before? Why did I take so long to see it? It's an interesting anime and worth watching at some point. I would say more things about it, but I feel like I would give much away. Also, tv show surprises and unexpected twists in the plot are what makes them special and exciting, right?

Edward Elric
I am currently on episode 12 and there are 51 episodes!
After this, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood.

stay up all night with the things you could do, you won't, but you might

I bought Crayola markers, color pencils, crayons, and a crayon tin box from Target. My mom thinks I am crazy for wasting my money on all of this.

stickers are the bee's knees

On December 1st I went to a show. My cousin invited my sisters and I, and since we had nothing better to do, we decided to go.
It was interesting and different.
I had never heard of the bands that were playing, except for my cousin's boyfriends band, Oh! The Irony although they announced a new name, but I've forgotten it. We got to the show when the third band was playing, Crown Me King. They were pretty good even with the microphone malfunctions they experienced. They gave free stickers after they played.

After Crown Me King, it was the band we knew's turn. They played four of five songs and I almost fell at some point due to the fact that there was a mosh pit behind me and I was off to the side and I wanted nothing to do with it. Another band was setting up, when my sisters', my sister's boyfriend, and I decided that we were hungry. Since we did not know that neighborhood, we called someone who did, and they gave us directions to a Burger King, McDonald's, and Subway close to the show. We bought Burger King.
Then, we went back to the show where my cousin was still with the band, we stayed there a while and left at around 11:00 p.m.

wondrous gem, the Arkenstone

I finally finished The Hobbit, or There and Back Again and it was not like other books that I have read. It was very different in the way in which J. R. R. Tolkien is able to bring this new world of hobbits, dwarves, eagles, goblins, men, trolls, giant spiders, wolves, a dragon, a wizard, and Gollum, to full life.
I borrowed this book from my little cousin who had just finished reading it. I remember her telling me, "Read it soon because the movie is coming out in December."
And that is what I did.
To say the truth, The Hobbit hadn't caught my attention before this. I don't know. I guess, I'm not used to reading fantasy novels. The only other fantasy novels that I read before The Hobbit were Harry Potter.
I thought the story was unique and very well written. While I read page after page of The Hobbit I could easily imagine the places Bilbo Baggins and the thirteen dwarves were passing. In books like these I would say there is no correct way to imagine the scenery. The Misty Mountains, Mirkwood, The Lonely Mountain, and the dragon's liar could be imagined differently by everyone, but in a similar way.
Now, I am ready to see the movie two weeks from tomorrow. I would recommend this book to everyone who wishes to know the adventures of a hobbit who lived a simple life and who later went on a very long and interesting adventure.

imagine

I have been watching television and everywhere they mention the $500M Powerball. That is a lot of money. After a while I began to question myself.
If I won the Powerball what would I do with the money?

If I won the Powerball....
I would buy my family a very nice home.
I would donate to different organizations and start my own organization, I'm not sure what cause(s) it would help.
I would create a very huge library in my house with many many books and grand couches and soft rugs, with walls leading to secret compartments to the other rooms in the house.
I would hand out thousands of dollars to all the paleteros that I see walking on the streets.
I would make sure that everyone I care about never worries to pay for bills, mortgage, or stuff like that.
I would open a restaurant for me dad, since he loves to cook.
I would give my mom a shopping spree.
I would travel to Mexico, Japan, England, and to places I have been to, but have not seen again in a very long time.
I would follow the tour of a band or two that I greatly admire.

From here to there

I created my first playlist. It took me three days, but around seven hours to look for, cut, and paste the letters from Allure ( a beauty magazine) to physically create this playlist from a paper of written songs and artist/band names.

My handwritten playlist is on the upper left hand corner.

chocolate everywhere, chocolate in your hair

I made pilgrim hats and chocolate turkeys with my youngest sister for Thanksgiving this year. We don't have a working oven or we would have made many pies in different flavors. The last time I baked something I was eight or nine and it was with an Easy Bake Oven, but it didn't work. When mamagil (my grandmother) came about one months ago, my sisters and I spent a whole Saturday baking her specialty bread. My family doesn't do much on Thanksgiving and as a result of this, making pilgrim hats and chocolate turkeys gave us something new to do. It was fun and chocolaty.

I think a lot

I think a lot when I am in a car and no one is talking to me.
When someone doesn't start a conversation with me, I think instead.
I make up stories and scenarios that could happen.
I think a lot when someone asks me a question like, "What is your favorite ____?" (insert favorite thing that pertains to question here).
I know I have a favorite color and, sometimes, a favorite food. It's difficult to answer questions like these. I can't respond with the answer, so I decide to keep it to myself.
I think a lot when I am about to go to sleep, many people do. I am one of them. After all, no one is an exception.
Thinking is what keeps me awake. When I stop thinking that is when I drift off to sleep.
I think a lot, a lot, a lot.
No one knows what you're thinking. It's one of the things that only you can decide to keep or let go.
Some people write what they think.
I write that I think a lot.

it's true

I have a lot of little drawings of little monsters stored on my computer. Here's one. He has no name. Let's call him Monster One.

it was drizzling

Four years ago I was a junior in high school and I longed for the day I would be old enough to vote. I saw history being made with the election of Barack Obama as president. This was in 2008. It is now 2012, Barack Obama and Mitt Romney ran against each other.

Yesterday, November 6, 2012, at around 5:30 pm I walked to my old elementary school one block from my house and cast my vote.
After voting I received a small slip of paper that I will save as a remembrance of my first voting experience.

Barack Obama was re-elected.

if i'm lost please don't find me

Crystal Castles was amazing!

I bought my ticket about a month in advance and, even though, the hours before the concert were stressful my sisters and I made it on time. This is what happened.

I had told my dad that we were going to take the car to the concert and my sister and I was supposed to pick up our other sister at school. She comes out at 3:30 pm, so at 3:00 pm we looked for the car keys and we couldn't find them. My dad had taken them to work, on this day of all days. We had to buy a bus pass and go downtown to my sisters school, pick her up, and go to the concert.

Luckily, we knew how to get there. By the time we got to the concert it was around 5:30 pm. At 6:30 they started letting everyone into the Congress Theater. We were standing in the third row from the stage. I had an okay view of the stage. From 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm a DJ played.... music.... that started getting on my nerves after a while. Someone asked a security guard at what time Crystal Castles would come on stage and he said 9:30 pm.

From 8:30 pm to 9:30 pm we listened to Kontravoid, an electronic group from Toronto, Canada. I liked him, his music was interesting.

Kontravoid

Then, the moment we were all waiting for, CRYSTAL CASTLES!

At this point, I was still in the front but squished in between strangers. If I would've been pulled up from where I was standing, there would be almost no space for anyone else to stand. When Crystal Castles came on, everyone yelled, "Alice! Alice! Alice! Alice!" Others yelled, "Ethan! Ethan!" I saw Ethan Kath at the start of the show when he walked on stage and started playing Plague. Alice jumped and the show began. Soon, everyone started pushing. Since I am short I was pushed farther from the stage and closer to the middle. I jumped and sang along to all the songs. At some point, my shoelaces became untied, but I was having too much fun to tie them back again or to care.

My sister took videos:

The show lasted until 10:48 pm. After the show, while my sisters and I waited for the train to arrive, a man approached us and asked for our review of the concert for an online magazine.

The next day I woke up sore, but it was all worth it. I would go see Alice and Ethan again.

Ghouls and Goblins, Witches and Wizards

I tried being a skeleton on Halloween night. I made the skeleton shirt that I am wearing and tried to make my make-up emulate Florence Welsh's makeup in her video to the song Not Fade Away. I am not an expert nor talented.

I think I would've done a better job making my costume if I had not started preparing it two days before Halloween. My intention was to give out candy, I had bought two bags the day before, but my sister insisted that we go trick-or-treating. We went, after a while, to a suburb close to the city. I had a spectacular time, although several times it was weird, little kids gave me candy instead of I giving them.

I had a twin skeleton buddy.

It's true, a dog can be your best friend.

Simon

I've had Simon as a pet for one year and seven months. My sister named him and I'm not sure who or what she named him after. She said, "I've always wanted to name something Simon." Then, we got a dog and he became this nameable something.
Simon lives with my mom, dad, sister, another sister, and me. There is not a day that passes by when I do not give Simon a huge hug. Does he know that he's my pet and I'm his owner? Does he ever wonder why he is tiny, has a tail, walks with four skinny little legs with paws that get cold in the winter, and barks instead of talks? He's found his ways to communicate, though. He makes noises with his food and water bowl; click, clack, clatter, when he's hungry or thirsty. I often hear him tumbling his food bowl all over the kitchen. He moves his water bowl from left to right as if he's created his own extreme sport. Waterfalls all over the place when his water bowl is under attack and I often mistake this for pee if no one is home to witness his treacheries.
Simon sleeps when you sleep and wakes up when you wake up, most of the time. Staring at Simon when he sleeps is entertaining. I count his breaths and when he takes too long to breathe, I shake him and he wakes up, startled, with an expression that says, "Don't bother me, it's time for my beauty sleep." If he ever sleeps next to you, be careful because he tends to randomly kick with unnatural strength.
Simon loves to play catch and has races when he goes on walks. He licks his oversized bone since his mouth is too small to bite into it. I give him treats in exchange for tricks. Simon sits, lays down on his stomach, stands on his two hind legs, gives his paw, and turns to the right in a circle (he hasn't learned to turn to the left). He's stubborn.
When Simon sees you entering the front gate to go inside the house, one of the first things he will do is bark, run and bang himself against the door. It seems he believes that one day he will be able to go through the door or throw it down. Silly little boy.
I remember when Simon came home. He was tiny and stumbled all over the place. It took forever to obtain my mom and dads approval to bring him home considering the fact that I've had pets before. If I can recall correctly I've had the following pets; a rooster, a chicken with baby chicks, a bunny, three or four cats, a hamster, and another dog many years ago, but none can compare to my dear Simon. I love him so.

Movies can make you laugh

Tommy Boy

I saw Tommy Boy the other day and I loved it. My little cousin who is twelve suggested that we watch it. I was hesitant at first for the reason that I was in the mood to watch something like "Hey Arnold", "Rugrats", "Aaaahh!!! Real Monsters", or "Rocko's Modern Life" on Netflix. I love cartoons, especially the ones that I used to watch when I was 7, 8, 9, and 10, etc. and I wouldn't mind watching them over and over and over and over again. Everyone else wanted to see a movie, and Tommy Boy won.
Tommy Boy was one of those movies that you would want to see on the same day each year, like The Sandlot for the Fourth of July and Home Alone for Christmas. It so happens that it was mamagil's (my grandmother's) birthday that day, so I suppose we could watch Tommy Boy whenever it's her birthday. Although, I think she would much rather have us watch a movie in Spanish that she will understand.

I laughed and found this scene among others, entertaining:

Tommy and Richard can sing better than me one million times over. aha

um.

I like to write. If I earn a dollar a day or a quarter an hour for writing for the rest of my life I will be happy. I love writing, I've thought about it for a while now.

I think this is one of the things I wish to do for the rest of my life.

I Listened to Spice Girls On Spotify

I listened to Spice Girls when I was really young and small living in a small town in California with my mom, dad, and two sisters. I can't remember my exact age at this time, but I do remember that I loved them so much. I owned a jigsaw puzzle of them, which I told my grandfather to build for me after many unsuccessful attempts on my part. He finished it fast and from him I learned how to build jigsaw puzzles.
"First you separate the bordering pieces with the inside pieces. Then, you build the border, and when you are done with the border, separate the inside pieces by color and build!" he would say.
I used to pretend I was Sporty Spice, I don't know why. I think I liked to run a lot.
One of my sisters was Baby Spice because she was tiny for her age.
My other sister was Scary Spice. She had and still has a more assertive personality.
My cousin was Ginger Spice. She was more outspoken, outgoing you might say.
There wasn't a Posh Spice. Although, my cousin sometimes would be her too.

We sang and danced to their songs like many other little girls and I loved to eat Spice Girls lollipops and collect the stickers.

So when Spice Girls performed in the Olympics on August 12, 2012, I sat throughout the whole performance. I remembered and thought and missed when I was young.

I wish I could go back in time.

As I combed my hair, I looked into the mirror

Sad Eyes

Your eyes look sad.
Disrupting your glare.
You close them and frown.
For longer now.
A long strip of hair awakens the haze.
It feels so much clearer than never before.
Sweet like milk candy and more
You open your mouth and utter a word.
From the song in your ears.
It bounces and halts.
Your sad eyes open, slower this time.
They smile like never before.

Half Way Mark

I guess I will talk about the book I am currently reading, it's titled The Hobbit, or There and Back Again and it's about a hobbit who goes on many adventures with a wizard named Gandalf and thirteen dwarves. I haven't been reading The Hobbit lately. Not as much as I would like. I began reading it about a month and a half ago and I'm on page 204 out of 365. I'm more than half way done. I did the math below.

365 - total pages in The Hobbit
204 - pages read of The Hobbit
161 - pages left of The Hobbit

182.5 - half way mark in The Hobbit

Chapter X
A Warm Welcome

The Hobbit film series! I almost forgot. I can't wait for An Unexpected Journey to be released this year and for The Desolation of Smaug and There and Back Again to be released in subsequent years. I actually began to read the book right around the same time that I found out the movie series was being filmed.
I particularly like when what I am read or doing fits in with what is happening in my surroundings. It's nice to think that maybe at the same time someone else or others, like you, are also reading The Hobbit and are waiting to see if the world that you or I imagined correlates or veers from what directors and producers have imagined. Ahhh....

Strangers

I am shy.

I wrote something.

-------------------------------

Strangers

You go somewhere, to an event, or anywhere outside your house, not too far or not too close. On your way to your destination, you listen to music or look at your surroundings. When you reach your destination and meet up with your friends, there are people there you had never seen or met before. Then out of nowhere, several minutes or hours later that person, whom you don’t know, catches your attention. Throughout your stay at this place, you wonder if they have noticed you if they have seen you. They seem interesting, slightly more than everyone else. Pretty soon, it’s time to go and everything is left at that. You never spoke to them and as you walk out, you look back again. To see that stranger one last time. The very interesting person.

First Post

I figured if I wish to become a good writer I should write, if I wish to become a good reader I should read, but not many books. Instead, I should spend my time reading books that catch my attention like books that pertain to my life at the moment.
I figured that if I wish to be better at math I should study more math, if I want to discover new music I should share what I listen to, and if I wish to discover new adventures I should create them.
Since I have free time I thought a blog would be a great way to occupy that time. That is why I am here, to share what I write, read, see, hear, touch, and taste. To share projects, I'm working on and people I meet or have not met, yet.
I guess I can look back at this blog when I'm older, but for now, I just want to write randomness (is that even a word?).
