life update

One two three... Say words that come to your mind in one minute with the last letter of a word being the first letter of the next word. No words can repeat.

And go!

  1. pineapple
  2. evil
  3. liquid
  4. deer
  5. rider
  6. river
  7. rabbit
  8. tiger
  9. red
  10. downward
  11. dream
  12. mother
  13. rain
  14. nerd
  15. dread
  16. damp
  17. pepper
  18. road
Something I discovered: I thought of a lot of words that began with r and ended with r. Also, I discovered that I thought of words that ended with d.

chipped black nails

It was 8:30 am in the morning and Athena barely woke up. Her alarm was set to seven, so she could relax that morning. Her class began at nine. She did not want to worry to get to class on time. After the annoying alarm beeped, Athena quickly changed from pajama pants and over-sized sweatshirt into dark red jeans and a periodic table of the elements shirt. She put on a black sweater, grabbed her backpack, and ran out of the door at 8:40 am. In fifteen minutes, she would get to school. Five minutes later, her class would start.

As Athena drove she liked to look at the people on the street.

A tall man stood at a corner bus stop eating two donuts and drinking a small coffee. He wore a brown jacket and jeans. His blond hair flowed in the wind while he took a bite of one of the donuts.

"I wish my hair was as luscious as his," thought Athena.

Then, a lady jogged with her dog on the sidewalk. Since it was going to rain, she wore a pink raincoat and rain boots. She didn't even look uncomfortable. Also with a pink raincoat and rain boots, the lady jogger's dog ran in the drizzling rain.

“What a weird thing to wear while running,” commented Athena.

Afterward, a small kid ran for a ball that rolled across the street. Luckily there were no cars, except for Athena's car one block away. When the kid reached the other side of the road he raised his hands high into the sky triumphantly. Then he walked into a pet store nearby.

"Why isn't he is school?" asked Athena.

There weren’t many people on the street today. Thirteen minutes into her drive and while at a red light, Athena spotted a little old lady with a grocery cart full of groceries attempting to cross the street. Her grocery cart was stuck on the curb, though. She pushed and pushed, but it would not budge. Athena considered pulling over to help, however, the red light would not change. Finally, the grocery cart budged. It went. It moved. It allowed the little old lady to advance. Athena was so happy to see the little old lady move again that she grinned so big her mouth hurt. The little old lady could finally take her groceries home or wherever she was going. As Athena drove past the little old lady, she grinned even more.

“What a wonderful thing to see this morning,” said Athena.

peanut butter can be candy? whut?

MADE UP DIALOGUE

"I was sort of joking sort of nah, but then what I said was taken seriously so it was more nah, so I wasn't joking more than what I was."

- This sounds like something intricate to say.

Thanksgiving Haiku, Ahem

*sits down at kitchen table, folds hands in front of self, looks at family members as they sit, looks down at table, and finally speaks*

"I have written a haiku poem for this occasion. Please do not laugh or cry or eat until I am done."

(silence)

Turkey

I saw the turkey
It gave me overwhelming
Fright, now eat quickly.

*looks up at family members*

"Thank you. Thank you berry much."

I called a shoulder blade a razor blade

Tito & Tita

Two birds were talking, one was named Tito and the other Tita.

Scene: Tito sits on an oak tree branch. Tita lands next to him.

Tita
Hey! What are yah doin'?

Tito
Oh, you know nothing just here looking out at the wilderness.

Tita
Oh yeah? What specifically are yah lookin' at?

Tito
Nothing really much, just how the snow slowly melts as the day goes by.

Tita
Wait? How long yah been here sitting on this oak tree branch?

Tito
What do you mean?

Tita
Yeah. It's almost one in da afternoon and yah said, let me quote yah, 'as the day goes by."

Tito
I've been here since eight. Just staring at the snow melt.

Tita
Dayum dude! And you ain't eaten yet?

Tito
Yeah, I ate a worm that landed next to me when it fell from one of the top branches.

Tita
And that's all yah eaten?

Tito
Yeah.

Tita
Well yah sure does have a strong fascination for dah melting snow 'cause I would've scrammed out a here a long time ago. Mah guts would've been screaming by now.

Tito
Well, you know, it's not often that you watch snow melt.

Tita
You got that right! Well, how long you gonna stay here perched on this here oak tree branch?

Tito
Oh, I don't know. Maybe until nighttime?

Tita
'Till nighttime?!

Tito
Yes, until nighttime.

Tita
Dayum! You sure is a strong birdy 'cause I would've scrammed out of here a long time ago.

(silence)

Tita (cont.)
Well Tito, I'm gonna leave 'cause I am hungry. You want some of them worms from some of the tree branches above?

Tito
No thank you. I just want to watch the snow melt.

Tita
Okay, see yah around Tito and don't let anyone tell you you are a weird birdy.

Tito
 All right Tita.

(Tita flies away)

different literary criticisms

If someone asked you at this very moment this question:
What did you want to be when you were younger?

What would you say? What would you reply?

I would say,

"A shark-rich lady,
veterinarian,
architect,
baker,
aerospace engineer,
marine biologist,
and pastry chef."

acting fundamentals

I wrote a haiku, I think.

Unmovable

Chair in a corner
facing hallway always, so
wall drips solitude.

rest my chemistry

Today in my Junior seminar class we had a presentation where we were divided into groups of five. There were fifteen people in my class today. Then, one of my classmates in my group began a discussion about delicate topics. When one of my classmates talked about her relationship with her father my group of five lost it. We cried like we had never seen each other cry before.
I said, "Wow, all of our eyes are watery" because they were and we laughed slightly.
My classmate talked about machismo and how her father embodies it and how she wishes he didn't because it prevents her from having a close relationship with him.
We all talked about our relationships with our fathers. Well, my group and I barely know each other and there we were crying so much. It was liberating and our talk made me see things more clearly in some aspects of my life.
Who would have thought you could cry with a group of students you barely know?

the end has no end

I met Sandra Cisneros today and I asked her for writing advice and this is what she said:

She said that I must join a writing group and write with them.
Then, I must improve upon my writing by joining a workshop where writers review and critique each others writing.
She asked me how often I write.
I said every other day or at least I try to.
Then, she asked me what type of writing I wanted to do and I said film writing, and/or novels.
She then replied that she couldn't really help me with the film writing because she doesn't know much about that area.
But, she did tell me that if I want to write short stories and novels I should join a group of writers and write with them.
Now, I have decided to take Writing Fiction at my University next semester.
Let's see where life takes me.
I believe in destiny.

two servings in a bag, I was tricked

It was 11:00 pm and Alicia sat in the school hallway. Her phone was almost dead and all the offices were closed. She sat waiting for the call "I'm here" from her sister, Valentina, who was on her way to pick her up.
"It's so cold here," she said after a while and walked to the vents on the wall that pushed warm air into the hallway. She sat down with her back in front of one of the vents and ate fruit snacks from the vending machine in one of the lower floors. She felt tired, so she lowered her head on her lap. Ten seconds passed when she heard a voice behind her, "Alicia, I'm down the hallway."
Alicia lifted her head quickly and turned around. The vent was behind her. She said nothing. Then the  voice said again, "Alicia, I'm down the hallway."
Alicia jumped to her feet and slowly turned her head to the right.

"Who's there?" she asked hesitantly. There was no reply. Then warm air from the vent swept across her face and with the air came a voice again, "Alicia, I'm down the hallway."
"Valentina is that you?" Alicia asked. Her sister must be playing a joke on her. There was silence.
In this moment, Valentina pulled up in front of the school as she dialed Alicia.
Alicia spoke again, "Valentina, stop playing games with me."
After she spoke, her phone began to ring. The air from the vent turned cold. Alicia was too scared to answer the phone. Her body was frozen in place. Why would Valentina be calling her on her phone if she was down the hallway? The phone stopped ringing.
As Valentina dialed again from the car, Alicia found it difficult to move. A black figure appeared at the end of the hallway. Her phone rang again and went directly to voicemail.
"Ali, I'm outside. Hurry up. Hurry up, Ali. It's freezing out here."
